THIRTY-SEVENTH REGIMENT.



This regiment, then located in New York city, now not in
service, was mustered in the United States service, May 29,
1862, for three months, and left the State (eight companies)
the same day. Commanded by Col. Charles Roome, it served in
the Middle Department, and was mustered out September 2, 1862,
at New York city.

June 18, 1863, it was remustered in the United States
service, but for thirty days, and commanded by Colonel Roome,
it left (ten companies) for Harrisburg, Pa., the same day, and
served in the 4th Brigade, 1st Division, Department
Susquehanna. It was mustered out at New York city, July 22,
1863.

May 6, 1864, it was mustered in the United States service
for the third time, and, under the command of Col. Ossian D.
Ashley, it served (nine companies) in the harbor of New York,
until it was mustered out, June 6, 1864.

In its service in 1863, the regiment lost: Died of
disease, 1 enlisted man; and took part in skirmishes at
Sporting Hill, Pa., June 30, 1863, where it had 1 officer and 3
enlisted men wounded, and at Carlisle, Pa., July 1, 1863, where
2 officers and 2 enlisted men were wounded, and 3 captured;
total wounded, 3 officers, 5 enlisted men; captured, 3 enlisted
men; aggregate, 11.

Louisa Carpenter Living with him along with his two sons. on 6 January 1880 at Omnibus Clerk, New York, New York.5 He appeared on the census of 1 June 1880 at District 470, NYC, NY, NY; Boarder.6 He died on 5 January 1891 at age 56; NY Times Wednesday, Jan 7 1891; p5, Col 7 'DIED'

Bolsler [sic].--- Suddenly of pneumonia on the 5th of January, 1891 at his late residence, No [32 or 82] East 77th St. George W., son of the late Henry B. and Sarah M. Bolsler in the 57th year of his age. The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend his funeral from the St. Luke's Methodist Episcopal Church, 41st St. near 6th Ave on Thursday, at 11:30 o'clock AM. Kindly omit flowers. Interment at Greenwood. Jacksonville (Fla.) and Fort Scott (Kan) papers please copy. He was buried on 8 January 1891 at Green-Wood Cemetery Brooklyn, NY.
