Charles Sterrett was the son of James Sterrett and Sarah Montgomery. Charles Sterrett 44. Charles Starrett (of James3, Robert2, Benjamin1).
Born September 30, 1777, Lancaster County, Pa. Died February 14, 1842, in Ovid, Seneca County, N. Y. He and his descendants seem to be the only branch descended from Robert and Mary (Ramsey) Sterrett to use the "a" instead of "e" in the name--and spell their name, Starrett.
Charles Starrett was a soldier in the War of 1812, enlisting January 10, 1814, discharged April 13, 1814, Col. Harris' Regt., New York Militia. His widow applied for a pension April 17, 1872, aged 82 years, residing then at Farmers' Village, Ovid, Seneca County, N. Y. Her claim admitted January 13, 1874, to a pension of $8 per month from February 14, 1871. Family record of children on file with pension application.
Married, Thursday, October 16, 1806, by Rev. Stewart, to Rachel Caywood, born Dec. 27, 1789; living in 1874.
