Joseph Sterrett

M, d. 17 January 1782
Father*John Sterrett b. c 1698, d. 5 Apr 1748
Mother*Martha Work d. c 1748
Joseph Sterrett was the son of John Sterrett and Martha Work. Joseph Sterrett married Catherine (?). Joseph Sterrett 8. Joseph Sterett (of John2, Benjamin1).
Born in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, Pa. Perhaps is the Joseph who died January 17, 1782; if so, his wife, Catherine, died April 19, 1769, according to a Bible record, which gives the birth of a John Sterett, August 5, 1766, son to Joseph and Catherine Sterett. This family came from Pennsylvania to Kentucky, and the above Joseph seems to be the only Joseph of whom we have knowledge, born early enough to have been the father of a son in 1766.

Joseph, son of John and Martha (Work) Sterett, is named in his father's will, 1748; deeds to his brother James (who had a wife Mary) in 1753, 1761, Rapho Township, Lancaster County. Was also executor of his mother's will, in 1754, but in none of these legal papers is mention made of any wife of Joseph.
