NOTE: In Vol. II. of Abstracts of Records of Augusta County, Virginia, p. 74, is record of a suit, John Crawford vs. William Sterrett; and it is stated there that William Sterrett came to Virginia from Pennsylvania, where he had resided; dated Feb. 24, 1792.

P. 305, William Sterrett is surety on marriage bond of David Moore and Jane Depriest, Aug. 13, 1788; also under date of Jan. 16, 1797, the marriage of Samuel Jackson and Margaret Hall is given, and mention made of the fact that Margaret Hall was daughter of William Hall, deceased; consent given by Fanny Allison, mother of Margaret Hall. William Sterrett, surety; William and Isabella Sterrett, witnesses.

This suggests that the daughter of Samuel Sterrett above who was wife of William Hall, may have been Fanny (???), who named a daughter Margaret for her mother; and who after death of Wm. Hall married an Allison.

In Egle's Notes & Queries, Vol. 1896, p. 113, among marriages recorded by Rev. John Casper Stoever, 1730-1779, is that of William Hall to Frances Starret, Sept. 21, 1775.

He was Ancestral File Numbe at X3N1-MM. He married Margaret (?). Samuel Sterrett was born circa 1708 at Scotland. He was the son of Benjamin Sterrett and Isabelle (?). Samuel Sterrett died in March 1776 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
