William Sterrett

     William Sterrett was the son of James Sterrett and Sarah Montgomery. William Sterrett 40. William Sterrett (of James3, Robert2, Benjamin1).
Born 1762; died July 28, 1818. Married Sarah Woods, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Scott) Woods, who died May 31, 1840, in her 73d year. Besides farming, William Sterrett carried on an extensive transportation business by means of Conestoga teams, between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Children:

i. James A., b. May 23, 1793; d. Oct. 30, 1851, at Mt. Joy,
Pa; married 1st, Ellen Curran, by whom he had no
issue: married 2d, Elizabeth Bryan, by whom he had a
son:
1. George Bryan Rodgers Sterrett, who d. in Pittsburgh,
ae. 30 years.
James A. Sterrett was Postmaster at Marietta, Pa., whence
he moved to Springfield, Ohio, and thence to Mt. Joy, Pa.
